Filed under: Recaps (S05E04) Finally! It look the ‘Doctor Who’ episode that combined the best episodes of the returned series thus far (‘Blink,’ ‘Silence in the Library’ and ‘Forest of the Dead’) to create the best episode of this season as written by showrunner Steven Moffat (although, to be fair, the season has only been four episodes thus far). It was an excellent episode and, like the aforementioned previous ones, it figuratively if not literally made me hide behind the sofa. Matt Smith and Karen Gillan acted superbly and it was nice to see the return of Alex Kingston as River Song. And rather than wrap up that particular dangling storyline, Moffat decided to add more mystery to it.

This episode highlighted one of Moffat’s...
Big name actors need not apply. Let’s face it, short of “John,” it doesn’t get anymore generic than Matt Smith. Yet that didn’t stop the BBC and the creative team behind DOCTOR WHO from handing over the reigns of what is arguably their country’s most recognizable export to an actor that would leave even the...
